Del 4 al 16 de Agosto tuvimos la visita de la brigada dental de estudiantes de la Universidad del Norte Carolina (UNC). Este año llegaron 6 estudiantes de 1ro y 3er grado. Como cada año recibimos su apoyo para realizar la segunda campaña de Salud bucal en Casa San Salvador de NPH México. Y se benefició la Casa de Matamoros la cual estaba de visita en Casa San Salvador, Miacatlán.
En la primera semana se realizó La Campaña de salud la cual consiste en: Platica de Salud Bucal, Técnica de cepillado, Profilaxis, Diagnostico, Aplicación de flúor. A cada niño se le otorgo cepillo dental y a las secciones de grandes y secundaria se les otorgo cepillo e hilo dental. Con esta campaña se cubrieron todas las secciones de CSS y Matamoros, en total 446 niños y niñas.
Posteriormente en la segunda semana los estudiantes realizan tratamientos de operatoria con resina o amalgama. En total realizaron 18 consultas, 65 tratamientos con resina y 3 con amalgana.
Como cada año la brigada de UNC llegó con donativo para realizar la campaña de Salud bucal y tratamientos como son: cepillos dentales, pasta dental, resina, algodón en rollo, cartuchos de anestesia, anestesia tópica etc. En este año donaron un AUTOCLAVE. Este donativo es de gran importancia para la consulta dental ya que es básico para la esterilización del instrumental. Agradecemos el gran apoyo que nos ofrece la universidad del Norte Carolina cada año para mejor la salud bucal de nuestros niños.
Dental brigade from North Carolina visits NPH Mexico
This year the dental brigade from the University of North Carolina (UNC) visited Casa San Salvador (CSS), Miacatlán, from August 4th to 16th. It consisted of 6 students from 1st and 3rd grade. Every year we receive the support of the dental brigade from UNC to realize the second Oral Health Campaign at CSS. This year the children from Matamoros, who were visiting Miacatlán, could also benefit from their visit.
In the first week Oral Health Campaign was performed: Talks about oral health, brushing technique, prevention, diagnosis, application of fluoride. Each child received a toothbrush and the older kids were provided with toothbrush and floss. With this campaign all sections of CSS and Matamoros, in total 446 children, were covered.
In the second week of their visit, the students performed small surgeries as well as composite and amalgam fillings. In total they had 18 appointments for smaller surgeries, made 65 composite and 3 amalgam fillings.
As every year the brigade from UNC arrived with donations to realize Oral Health campaign and treatments such as: toothbrushes, toothpaste, filling material, cotton roll, cartridges anesthesia, topical anesthesia etc. This year they additionally donated an AUTOCLAVE. This donation is of great importance to the dental area because it is essential for sterilizing instruments.
We highly appreciate the support provided by the University of North Carolina every year to improve oral health care for our children.
